Representatives of the Alliances Françaises from six geographical areas gathered in Paris for the Alliances Françaises World Congress, marking the 140th anniversary of the Foundation, from July 20 to 22 in Paris. The Flemish and French governments are bound by an intergovernmental agreement for cultural, linguistic, pedagogical, and scientific cooperation of September 28, 2000. This agreement remains in force and has led to intensive collaboration. Over the past twenty years, numerous programs and experiences have been exchanged during meetings and visits.
At the joint initiative of the Chancellery and Foreign Affairs Department of the Flemish Government and the French Embassy in Belgium, a new cooperation program has been drawn up for the period 2023 to 2025.
Flanders and France thus demonstrate their increased willingness to strengthen the ties between their administrations, researchers and students, teachers, artists and professionals from the cultural sector and the creative and cultural industries, and other civil society actors.
